Ladder arrest systems have been designed to provide safety when climbing ladders and platforms typically fitted to bulk haulage vehicles or storage containers

A retractable lanyard is suspended from a safety line fixed along the top edge of the front bulkhead above the platform. The safety line is supported by Eyenuts/D-rings at either side of the bulkhead and bolted through structural elements.

The lanyard is stowed fully retracted into it weather resistant housing and is accessed from the ground by a recovery cord attached adjacent to the bottom of the ladder. The operative would wear a fall arrest harness and connect the lanyard to the chest buckle and then have hands free access to climb the ladder.

The lanyard will extend and retract as the operative climbs or descends.  Once on the platform, the operative can transfer their connection to a Bi-line system for load leveling or roof access. In the event of a fall, an over-speed device in the lanyard housing will lock and arrest the fall.  As there is no slack in the lanyard, the arrest will be almost immediate
