Curtainside Vehicles

Designed to provide secured access and arrest falls from curtain sided vehicles and constructed from stainless steel for reliability and long life. The operative would connect to the safety system before climbing onto the vehicle, have full access to the load area and not disconnect until safely back on the ground.

Each installation has an 8mm stainless steel Safety Line located behind the curtain close to the underside of the roof. The safety line runs the full length of the vehicle and is connected to two anchorages fixed through the front bulkhead and rear structural frame. A fall arrest lanyard is suspended from a pulley wheel that travels the full length of the safety line, the lanyard is stowed fully retracted into a weather resistant housing and is accessed via a recovery cord.

A fall arrest lanyard is suspended from a pulley wheel that travels the full length of the safety line, the lanyard is stowed fully retracted into a weather resistant housing and is accessed via a recovery cord. Before climbing onto the vehicle, the operative should use the recovery cord to pull down the lanyard and give it a quick ‘test’ tug. This will initiate a locking mechanism that locks the webbing when a fall is detected.

Taking the lanyard swivel hook in one hand, the screwlock on the hook should be rolled to open with the forefinger so that it can be connected to the dorsal buckle on back of the users fall arrest harness. The hook has an auto-locking mechanism that will close and secure the connection when the screwlock is released.

As the operator climbs up onto the load area, the lanyard will retract ensuring that there is no slack in the webbing. Once connected, the user has hands free access to the full length and width of the vehicle load area. When the operative is safely back on the ground, the lanyard is re-attached to the recovery cord and allowed to fully retract into its housing.
